Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch is a famous English actor and film producer, who has been included in the annual list of 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time Magazine (2014). Throughout career, he has received numerous awards and nominations for acting, most notable as two Laurence Olivier Award nominations, three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, and winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for Sherlock.

Cumberbatch is the son of actor Timothy Carlton and actress Wanda Ventham. After graduating from the University of Manchester, he continued his training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, obtaining a Master of Arts in Classical Acting. From the start, he performed at the Open Air Theatre in Shakespearean productions such as Love's Labour's Lost (2001), A Midsummer Night's Dream (2001), and Romeo and Juliet (2002).

In the past, Cumberbatch had a relationship with actress and screenwriter Olivia Poulet but they amicably separated in 2011. He then dated London-based artist Anna James but eventually split up in 2012. Since November 2014, he has engaged to theatre and opera director Sophie Hunter, the couple has welcome their first son in June 2015.
