Clarence James Duhart
Pioneering redemptorist missionary bishop Clarence James Duhart is best known as an American missioner who became the first bishop of northeastern Udon Thani diocese. He was known for his tireless missionary zeal because he traveled from one mission station to the next, preached missions and taught catechism.BEFORE FAME
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Duhart was trained at the Redemptorist minor seminary before being ordained a priest in 1937, afterward, he served as an army chaplain in World War II and worked as a parish priest in the United States. After studying the Thai language for a period of time, he was assigned to Xang Ming, a Catholic village in northeastern Sakhon Nakhon province. on April 21, 1966, he was consecrated a bishop by Archbishop Michel Kien Samophithak of Thare and Nonseng.PERSONAL LIFE
