Having been active since 2002, American singer and songwriter Jhené Aiko caught attention through her first full-length project, a mixtape titled .sailing soul(s). after returning to music in March 2011. Since then, she has gained numerous success, typically a nomination for an American Music Award for Favorite Female Artist- Soul/R&B (2014), an BET Award for Centric Award for The Worst (2014), which also earned her three more nominations, including Soul Train Awards for Video of The Year and The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter's Award (2014) and a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song (2015).
