An Indonesian actor, model, and martial artist Joe Taslim gave a star-making performance in the Indonesian action film The Raid: Redemption and more notably, as his villainous role with his martial arts and parkour skills in Fast & Furious 6 a huge box office hit and propelled Joe Taslim to international stardom, along with Hollywood stars such as Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Paul Walker. In addition to staring in film industry, he was also a professional Judo athlete with a number of gold medals in national championships and at the 1999 South East Asia Judo championships.
BEFORE FAMETaslim was born to Maria Goretty and Mardjuki Taslim, in Indonesia. Before gaining great success as an international actor, he had a great passion in Judo and became a Judo champion earning several national championships. He participated in Indonesia Judo national team from 1997 to 2009. He made his appearance in magazines, TV commercials, and several Indonesian feature films including The Raid: Redemption, followed by HBO Asia's first action horror, Dead Mine, etc.
