He was nominated for Best British Male at the 2014 BRIT Awards.He was featured on two Rudimental songs including "Not Giving In" and "Feel the Love," the latter of which peaked at #1 on the UK Singles Chart.In 2013, he appeared on Jools Holland's Hottenanny and Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

He moved to London when he was 20 where he started his first band and was subsequently signed by Island Records.

He grew up with his older brother James and single mother after his alcoholic father left the family when he was 6.
