Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington is a versatile American actress who is well-known in both movies and dramas. She had her film debut in Our Songs (2000) and gained popularity through films such as Save the Last Dance (2001) and Bad Company (2004). Besides having a gift in acting Kerry is also active in many social and political grounds. She is a member of the Creative Coalition and sits on the board of V-Day organization which works to end violence against women; a strong supporter of gay rights and President Barrack Obama. She was named an honorary chairperson of the GLSEN Respect Awards and has been honored the GLAAD Vanguard Award in the beginning of 2015.

Kerry was born to Valerie, a professor and educational consultant and Earl Washington, a real estate broker. When she was a child, she started with ballet lessons and dreamt to work with whales. Washington began her acting career when she was in school and had her screen debut with ABC telepic Magical Make-over in 1994.

Washington was engaged to actor David Moscow from 2004 to 2007 then got married to football player Nnamdi Asomugha in 2013. The couples welcomed a daughter named Isabelle Amarachi in 2014.
