Kim Jong-il

Supreme Leader of North Korea from 1994 to 2001 who was the center of an elaborate personality cult inherited from his father. He led one of the world's most repressive and tyrannical regimes and the amount of people who have died or been jailed due to his policies is still unknown.He was his country's biggest celebrity and took on a god-like status amongst his people with many North Koreans believing that he had the magical ability to control the weather based on his mood.George W Bush called his country part of the "Axis of Evil" and feared his nuclear capabilities.

He became active in the Children's Union and the Democratic Youth League while still in school.

His son Kim Jong-un, is his successor as the supreme leader of North Korea but very little is known about his private life.
