Lisa Nicole Lopes (May 27, 1971 – April 25, 2002), better known by her stage name Left Eye, was an American singer, dancer, songwriter who gained public notice as a member of the girl group TLC. She has written raps to many of TLC's hit singles, including "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg", "What About Your Friends", "Hat 2 da Back", "No Scrubs", "Waterfalls", "I'm Good at Being Bad", "Girl Talk", earning her four Grammy Awards.

On April 25, 2002, Lopes was killed in a car accident in La Ceiba, Honduras.

BEFORE FAME

Lisa Lopes was born to Wanda, Ronald Lopes, a "talented musician" playing the harmonica, clarinet, piano and saxophone. From 5 years old, she had familiarized with keyboard and later wrote her own songs. By 10, she played the musical The Lopes Kids with her siblings, performed gospel songs at local churches.

PERSONAL LIFE

Lisa had suffered from an abusive, alcoholic background and struggled with alcohol problems. Her relationship with Rison constantly appeared in news with rumors of an wedding, later discovered by People magazine. After her death, her family lanched Lisa Lopes Foundation for charity.
