Maya Karin Roelcke, known as Maya Karin, is a Malaysian film actress, television host, and singer who rose to fame for her starring roles in Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam and Ombak Rindu, both earned her the Best Actress in Leading Role awards at 49th Asia Pacific Film Festival (2004) and 25th Malaysian Film Festival (2013) respectively. In addition to acting, her singing career began with her debut album titled Erti Cinta (Definition of Love) for which she gained nominations for Best New Singer and Best Video awards at the Anugerah Industri Muzik.
BEFORE FAMEBorn in Germany and raised in Indonesia for 17 years, she began modelling and theatre acting during her adolescent life. After graduating from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, majoring in Media and Marketing, she entered the Malaysian Entertainment Industry with her debut appearance as a television show host for Malaysia's TV3 lifestyle entertainment programme Wavelength in 2000.
