As a central midfielder, Pjanic plays for Italian club AS Roma and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. He has been described as an "old-fashioned playmaker with huge technical qualities" and is known for not only passing, dribbling and vision but also a free-kick specialist, who is usually deployed as a deep-lying playmaker. A full international since 2008, Pjanic has earned over 60 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and represented the nation at their first major tournament, the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was also ranked 58th in The 100 best footballers in the world by The Guardian for 2014.
