Ralph Parcaut

WW I veteran who became a popular wrestler in the 1920s and bodybuilding promoter in the '30s.After WW I, his wrestling match for the Middleweight Champion of the World title made frontpage news in his home state of Iowa; despite facing a far more experienced opponent, Paracaut soundly defeated him.He was one of the earliest promoters of bodybuilding - then still called "physical culture" - paving the way for future bodybuilders like Lou Ferrigno.

Serving with the Marines in WW I he took part in the intra-military competition, known as the Inter-Allied Games, where he became a champion wrestler.

He was one of seven children born to a farming family in Grant Township, near Sutherland, O'Brien Country, Iowa.
