Ryuhei Matsuda

Ryuhei Matsuda is one of the most renowned film and television actor from Japan.  Matsuda's best known film roles include the young and desirable samurai Sōzaburō Kanō in Taboo and the rock star Ren Honjo in Nana.

Prior to joining in the acting world by his role as the androgynous youth in the samurai movie Taboo (Gohatto) when he was 15 years old, Matsuda attended Horikoshi High School and had no plans of going into acting. After that role, Ryuhei discovered he enjoyed acting and shortly after dropped out of high school to pursue an acting career.

His father was a legendatory Yusaku Matsuda (his masterpieces included “And Then”, “Black Rain”). When his father passed by, he was only 6 years old. His mother is an actress, Miyuki Matsuda. He has a young brother, Shota Matsuda and a younger sister, who is an lead vocal for a rock band. 

He has turned his love life into the marriage life with Lina Ohta, a Russian-Japanese model and the couple had a daughter in 2009.
