Tony Hand

Hockey forward and coach who is notable for being the first British-raised player ever to be drafted into the NHL. He is considered one of the best players in British history, having led the British National League in scoring three times and winning the Best British Forward award in four consecutive seasons.After retiring from playing, he became a highly-successful coach with teams like the Manchester Phoenix and British national team. He received the British Ice Hockey Writers' Association Coach of the Year award for the 2010-11 season.He and Hall of Fame goaltender Charlie Gardiner are both natives of Scotland.

He grew up in Edinburgh and attended St Augustine's Catholic School. He got his start playing hockey with the Murrayfield Racers organization.

He is the second son born to Lorraine and David Hand. He has an older brother named Paul, who was also a hockey player.
