Tsuyoshi Ihara is a Korean Japanese actor who has been active since 1984. He made his appearances in a number of eature films and television dramas, typically the NHK series Futarikko (1996), Kowloon de Aimashō (2002) and Koi no Jikan (2005). He also attracted international audiences through his role as Baron Takeichi Nishi in Letters from Iwo Jima (2006). In 2012, he won an award of Best Actor for Dirty Hearts at Punta del Este International Film Festival.
After graduating from high school, he joined the Japan Action Enterprise, headed and run by Shin'ichi Chiba. He debuted in a stage drama The Midnight Party in 1983.
