William R. King

American Democratic politician who served as 13th Vice President of the United States. He was only in office for six weeks before he passed away.In between his tenure as a North Carolina Representative and an Alabama Senator, he served as the Minister to France.He was Vice President under 14th U.S. President Franklin Pierce.

He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and opened a law practice in North Carolina before entering the House of Representatives.

He never married, however there were rumors that he was involved with U.S. President James Buchanon, with whom he had a close friendship.
